It is very important skill to make your career. It will help you, it does not matter the profession you belongs to like salesman, engineer, host, cricketer, sportsman, doctor or anything. If you are salesman then you get the job because of your communication skills only, if you are engineer or doctor then you have to know how to express your ideas to your boss or team members. There is no age to improve your communication skills, however it is good as earlier as you developed this skill. If you are in 12th standard or in college then you are not late.
I am too very shy to express my ideas and thoughts to other and if I have to give a speech on dias then I first start thinking that can I give speech properly. Similarly, most people have these shyness and lack of communication skill and confidence. You all know that if you express your thoughts or ideas on the stage then their is your benefit but because of shyness your could not do that and some other person takes the opportunity. These small opportunity make change in our personality and make big changes in our life.
So, here we are going to learn about how to improve our communication skills. These things also need practice as if you go in future then you will get your bits of mistakes made in your past. So, we can conclude that communication skills are very important for making our career and personality too.
STEPS TO IMPROVE SKILLS :
First of all you have to understand that if your body is looking so confident them your words does not matters majorly. For an example chimpanzees does not talk but because of their expression and body language they can express whatever they want to express. So, expression and body language matters with majority. The first step towards improvement is to build up a confident body language. The first thing is we get our two ears and one mouth, so this indicates that listen more and then talk as much is required. First become a good listener and then a good speaker. There are two advantage of this, the first one is that you respond according to the other person and second is that you are a good listener then the other person likes the communication and indulged more and shares more ideas and information with you.
Now, the question is how to have a good body language, so here is some tips. When you speak something have a open body like opening your hands instead of folding them. When you will have meetings or something else which is professional, if your hands are closed or you are looking lazy, the other person will understand you are not interested to talk with him or you are not convinced with him. Then, he would not be interested to talk with you. Other thing is don't put your hands in pocket, it doesn't give a positive attitude and looks like you are arrogant or you just don't want to talk. So, always open your hands and be humble while having a conversation.
The second thing is many people understand that communication skill and language are same. But this is totally wrong, language doesn't matter it is only the medium of communication and communication skills is the way how you are communicating with others. Many times there is need of some particular language like english or local language for some jobs. But, the only thing remains constant here is communication skills. But, I some cases language do matter. So, if we want to master some particular language then you can watch movies or videos with subtitles, read books of that particular language and the word which you didn't get, learn from dictionary or you can get if you are understanding it with the context. Then you have to speak also then start your practice. You can also stand in front of mirror and speak about you or on other topics. This is more effective method.
While you are communicating, do not use same word too many times as you can use the others too. This will show that you have a great knowledge about the language and other will also try to have a great communication with yourself. For example you are using a word "good" again and again instead of this word you can use "great" or "awesome". Talk with yourself confidently and humbly and then start talking more and more with others. Do practice as much as you can do. Be energetic and have good conversations. Break the barrier of shyness and now you are ready with great communication skills.
HOW TO DELIVER A GOOD SPEECH:
First of all you should have good vocabulary and good points in your speech. But, the main point here to focus is about how to present your speech. Present your speech in a humble manner and use words for introducing you, guests and audience that you all are familier to each other. Using humble words you are convincing your listener whatever you speak. Always be confident and if you are nervous think like they are your friends only. But, always remember you have to be professional. Present your ideas delicately and your confidence should be there. Focus that your speaking speed is not too speed or not too slow. Your audience should catch whatever you speak. Use body languages. Explain the topic properly but not so deep that the audience feels so boring. You should also cover some facts. Ask questions also to check the audience's attention. In entire speech, speak less negative and more positive as possible. End your speech with motivation or with positive thoughts. You can also insert some quotes in starting or in the middle of the speech.
